  absolutely fab. to think the first job I ever had was in 1976 at the Royal Oak doing a bit of washing up for my friend's parents who ran the Oak back then and here I am in 2016 writing a review. A big sorry for leaving our food; my daughter and I were stuffed. everything was lovely. the service was ace and a very nice manager on it was Sunday 1st May. we will be back and will recommend others try you out. we even looked at other people's food it all looked ace. I thought it was well worth the money :)

  Popped in here for a quick bite and drink on May Day. Didn't know it was a Joule's pub, but I like their beer so was happy to try the Slumbering Monk - very easy to drink. Only had sandwiches, but everyone in party enjoyed their choices and thought they were generous meals with salad and chips for £5-£6. Dogs allowed in the public bar and in the snug (yes, they call it the snug - and it is) but not in the restaurant, though it's the same hard floor. Bar is nice area though. Service was cheerful and quick.
